Basketball Recap: 13 Straight Home Victories for Washington County

Washington County had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They snuck past the Voyager Academy Vikings with a 76-72 win on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on four straight.

It was another big night for Brandon Carter Jr., who shot 56% from the field on his way to 41 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Washington County's points. Another player making a difference was ZyQuan Sanders, who posted 11 points and six boards.

Washington County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Voyager Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore McKinley Hemsley went 5-for-10 to rack up 15 points and eight rebounds. Manny Pullium was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven assists.

Washington County pushed their record up to 22-3 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points over those games. As for Voyager Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 23-6 record.

As of now, neither Washington County nor Voyager Academy have any future games scheduled.
