Basketball Recap: Morgan Drops Season-High Score on Ogden

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morgan). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Ogden Tigers 80-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Trojans have posted since December 2, 2023.

Leading Morgan to victory were Eva Birkeland and Zoe Rockenfield. Birkeland went 15 for 30 on her way to 36 points, while Rockenfield dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Birkeland has scored at least a third of Morgan's points. Ashley Burt was another key player, putting up seven points along with seven steals and six assists.

Morgan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Morgan's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Ogden, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morgan will take on Grantsville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grantsville will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Morgan surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ogden, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Ogden Tigers duke it out with the South Summit Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
