Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Notre Dame's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

Notre Dame had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Menlo-Atherton on Tuesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Bears. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Allison Lui made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Those 17 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hailey Truong, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three doubles, and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Hogan, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Notre Dame kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Menlo-Atherton only managed one hit.

Notre Dame is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Menlo-Atherton, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-4.

Notre Dame will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Carlmont at 3:30 p.m. on the 28th. As for Menlo-Atherton, they will challenge El Camino at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
