Softball Recap: Palmyra-Eagle Has No Trouble Against Lake Country Lutheran

Palmyra-Eagle was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Lake Country Lutheran on Saturday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Lightning.

Sophia Lean and Teagan Koutsky were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Lean didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Koutsky struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Lean has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Lean went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Koutsky went 4-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most doubles Koutsky has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Brooklyn West and Briahna Covarrubias did most of the damage at the plate: West went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, while Covarrubias went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits West has posted since back in April. Presley Koss was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Palmyra-Eagle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Country Lutheran only posted a batting average of .185.

Palmyra-Eagle's record now sits at 11-15. As for Lake Country Lutheran, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
