Pearsall suffers third straight loss on the road

Recap: Pearsall Mavericks vs. Carrizo Springs Wildcats

The Pearsall Mavericks were the 51-49 winner over the Carrizo Springs Wildcats when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Pearsall was beaten by Carrizo Springs 56-16 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Pearsall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1352nd, while Carrizo Springs is ranked 661st).

Adisyn Reyes continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Carrizo Springs, scoring 19 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. The game was Reyes' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Ysella Hinojosa was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 11 rebounds and six blocks.

Pearsall's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-13. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Carrizo Springs, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Pearsall will be playing in front of their home fans against Pleasanton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Carrizo Springs, they will head out on the road to face off against Floresville at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Floresville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
