Softball Recap: Mount Airy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Alleghany

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Starmount, Mount Airy was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Alleghany Trojans 13-3. The Granite Bears' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on McKenna Watson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of SidneyKate Venable, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Mount Airy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Mount Airy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Alleghany, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Mount Airy is set to square off against their familiar foe East Wilkes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Alleghany will challenge rival South Stokes at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
