Softball Recap: Calaveras' Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Calaveras had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Riverbank on Monday. Calaveras' pitcher stepped up to hand Riverbank a 7-0 shutout. The win was familiar territory for the Red Hawks, who have now won four matchups in a row.

Kamryn Thornburg was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. Those 18 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexa Ortega, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kendra Baechler, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4.
