Baseball Recap: Twin Rivers Royals vs. East Carter Redbirds
After flying high against Clearwater on Thursday, Twin Rivers came back down to earth. The Royals fell just short of the East Carter Redbirds by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Royals in their meetings with the Redbirds: they've now lost four in a row.
Luke Hester was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Twin Rivers' defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for East Carter, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Twin Rivers will venture away from home to face off against Naylor at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Carter, they will take on Ellington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
