Recap: Riverhead Blue Waves vs. William Floyd Colonials
The Riverhead Blue Waves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by William Floyd on the road and fell 58-23. Riverhead has not had much luck with William Floyd recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
It was another big night for Jacqueline Sutherland, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten steals for William Floyd. Sutherland is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kayden Meyer was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Riverhead bumped their record down to 0-1 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for William Floyd, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverhead will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Walt Whitman at 6:00 p.m. on January 17, 2024. As for William Floyd, they will head out on the road to face off against Central Islip at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Islip and William Floyd are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
