Basketball Recap: Piedmont Community Charter Comes Up Short

Piedmont Community Charter lost against Jackson Day back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Piedmont Community Charter Patriots were outmatched by the Jackson Day Mariners and fell 66-18. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-4.

Jackson Day got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tralyn Phillips out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Amyia Martin, who posted seven points along with nine rebounds and eight steals.

Piedmont Community Charter's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-4. As for Jackson Day, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piedmont Community Charter will challenge Pinnacle Classical Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pinnacle Classical Academy's defense has only allowed 29.6 points per game this season, so Piedmont Community Charter's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Jackson Day, they will head out to face off against Carolina International at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Jackson Day is facing Carolina International at the right time seeing as Carolina International is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
