Basketball Recap: Somerset College Prep Academy Takes a Loss

Somerset College Prep Academy came up into this matchup off a tough 23-point defeat on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Pine Knights by a score of 53-51 on Thursday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-58 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Somerset College Prep Academy lost, don't look at Khloe Rodgers. Despite the final result, she went 11 of 18 en route to 28 points in addition to six steals and five assists. The game was Rodgers' 14th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was London Rolle, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

Emily Shirk was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 15 boards for Pine. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Shirk has scored at least a third of Pine's points. Roxie Hesler was another key player, putting up eight points.

This is the second loss in a row for Somerset College Prep Academy and nudges their season record down to 7-9. As for Pine, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.

Somerset College Prep Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 70-55 loss against Treasure Coast on the 31st. As for Pine, they will welcome Berean Christian at 4:00 p.m. on February 6th. Pine is facing Berean Christian at the right time seeing as Berean Christian is stuck on a 17-game losing streak.
