Basketball Game Preview: Leon Lions vs. Oakleaf Knights

The Leon Lions will square off against the Oakleaf Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakleaf took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Leon, who comes in off a win.

While Leon didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They enjoyed a cozy 53-39 victory over North Florida Christian on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Oakleaf was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 55-47 to Orange Park.

Leon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Oakleaf, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Things could have been worse for Leon, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 44-29 loss to Oakleaf when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Oakleaf's Makiya Trusel, who posted 12 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.
