Basketball Recap: Canyon Springs Piles Up the Points Against Vista Del Lago

There's no place like home for Canyon Springs, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past the Vista del Lago Ravens 82-51 on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 88-56 last Friday.

Canyon Springs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Derek Williams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards. With that strong performance, Williams is now averaging an impressive 8.4 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Tyler Vann, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.

Canyon Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Vista del Lago lost, don't look at Malik Morris. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 17 on his way to 17 points. Morris continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinton Jinna-Smith, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

The win got Canyon Springs back to even at 4-4. As for Vista del Lago, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Canyon Springs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-46 victory against Bloomington on the 13th. As for Vista del Lago, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-47 win against California School for the Deaf-Riverside on the 11th.
