League recap: Smith throws longest pass in league this season for Turners Falls

Fans got a thrill when Malcolm Smith and Jalen Sanders connected against Frontier Regional. The connection went for 69 yards, the longest such play in Intercounty this season.

Belchertown was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from eighth to sixth in the league. The Orioles defeated Easthampton 26-22 earlier in the week.

Josh Wyzik threw for 213 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 11-18 with 0 interception.

Trent Borbeau was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 79 yards as Turners Falls bested the Red Hawks. Teammate Sanders added to the ground attack by rushing for 71 yards.

Turners Falls' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 402 yards and 5 touchdowns this season, while Sanders has 15 catches for 235 yards.

An important game coming up in Intercounty this week will be when Cathedral takes on the Eagles. As it stands, the Panthers are in fourth, while Easthampton is in third.

The Indians took down Frontier Regional 31-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Smith threw for 194 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win.
