Baseball Recap: South Stanly Wins Going Away Against Union Academy

South Stanly made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Union Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Rowdy Rebel Bulls blew past the Cardinals 14-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Rowdy Rebel Bulls have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

South Stanly saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Crump, who scored three runs while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Crump a new career-high.

South Stanly was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .433 or higher in three consecutive games.

South Stanly's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Union Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Union Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Buford at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Stanly will be paying especially close attention to the Cardinals' match: after the Cardinals faces off against the Yellow Jackets, they'll take on South Stanly again at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
