Roanoke Valley Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Luke Somers, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, and Logan Gutierrez, who went 7 for 13 en route to 18 points and six boards. The game was Gutierrez's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Mioduszewski, who posted six points.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Faith Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 56-47 to Temple Christian. The match was a 17-17 toss-up at halftime, but the Warriors couldn't quite close it out.
Roanoke Valley Christian will have to contain Matthew Burton as he made an impact in Faith Christian's last game. He went 8 of 12 en route to 23 points. Burton also posted a block, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Ridge, who scored nine points and three steals.
Roanoke Valley Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Faith Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7.
