League recap: Absegami wins, gets boost in standings

Absegami was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fifth in Cape-Atlantic - American. Earlier in the week, the Braves triumphed over Mainland Regional 27-20.

Hammonton led the league in scoring this week after putting up 41 points on Egg Harbor Township.

The Eagles' dynamic duo of Kyle Houghton and Victor Ofarriel proved tough for the Blue Devils to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Houghton threw for 68 yards and Ofarriel had 31 yards receiving. Gianni DiBabbo helped Egg Harbor Township's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 14 yards.

C.J. LaFragola was a passing and rushing force as St. Joseph topped Millville.

Atlantic City's Jamir Prevard and Isaiah Graves led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Prevard has thrown for 411 yards this season, while Graves, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 8 catches for 169 yards. Dante Moore from Egg Harbor Township leads the league in rushing with 203 yards.

A big matchup in Cape-Atlantic - American this week will be when Absegami takes on the Thunderbolts. Dennis Scuderi's team is currently in fifth, while Millville is in third.

There should be lots of points scored when the Wildcats and Tony DeRosa's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, St. Joseph comes in having scored 97 this season, while the Eagles have scored 39. Paul Sacco, Jr.'s team scored 21 points last week as it defeated Jason Durham's team.

Hammonton made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,851 from 2,188. The improvement was the result of a 41-0 victory over Egg Harbor Township last week.
