The DeMotte Christian Knights will face off against the Pioneer Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
DeMotte Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Tri-Township 15-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Knights as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Cheznie Kooy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Kooy was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lili Peterson was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Myers, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
DeMotte Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tri-Township only posted an OBP of .286.
Meanwhile, Pioneer had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Bison as they made off with a 13-3 victory.
Like DeMotte Christian, Pioneer also got a great game from a two-way player: Lois Layer. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Layer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one double.
In other batting news, Pioneer got a massive performance out of Hallie Lebo, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Averi Layer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run.
Pioneer's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for DeMotte Christian, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
