Baseball Recap: Tupelo Wins High-Profile Contest Against Madison Central

Tupelo faced Madison Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Tupelo was the clear victor by a 13-5 margin over Madison Central. The Golden Wave might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Brody Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Wilson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Swinney, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyler Johnson, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Tupelo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

The win snapped Tupelo's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-8 record. As for Madison Central, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-3.

Tupelo has already played their next game (against East Union), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Madison Central, they will head out to face off against Clinton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
