Volleyball Recap: Downey Knights vs. Vanden Vikings
Downey and Vanden met for a duel on Saturday where Downey had to take the L. The Downey Knights took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vanden Vikings. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
While Downey had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-19.
Vanden can attribute much of their success to Dani Rubi, who had three digs and 13 assists.
Downey's loss dropped their record down to 23-10. As for Vanden, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Downey wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Tokay on the 5th. Vanden has also already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Roseville on the 5th.
