Baseball Recap: Kennett Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Kennett took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Dexter, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Indians had just enough and edged out the Bearcats 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted since April 30th.

Hayden Gilmore was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over 6.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Kennett is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-11 otherwise. Gilmore was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

Kennett's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-13. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Dexter, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 17-10.

As of now, neither Kennett nor the Bearcats have any future games scheduled.
