Baseball Game Preview: Tupelo Christian Prep Eagles vs. Hickory Flat Rebels

The Tupelo Christian Prep Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Hickory Flat Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tupelo Christian Prep will be strutting in after a win while Hickory Flat will be coming in after a loss.

Tupelo Christian Prep took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against New Site as Tupelo Christian Prep made off with a 14-4 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Jax Coker was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Nate Cornelison was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Tupelo Christian Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Site only posted an OBP of .375.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Hickory Flat's offense. They came up short against Water Valley on Tuesday, falling 20-0. The Rebels have struggled against the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

The win got Tupelo Christian Prep back to even at 1-1. As for Hickory Flat, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything went Tupelo Christian Prep's way against Hickory Flat in their previous meeting back in April of 2016, as Tupelo Christian Prep made off with a 19-3 victory.
