Softball Recap: Highlands Makes It 12 in a Row at Home

Highlands had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Sunday. They blew past the Dayton Greendevils 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Bluebirds, who have now won 17 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Kaitlyn Dixon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alli Meyers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Morgan Pompilio, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Highlands' win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 28-6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Dayton, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.

As of now, neither Highlands nor the Greendevils have any future games scheduled.
