Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Zen Cunningham and Jaslene Martinez Lead Winter Springs to Victory

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oviedo, Winter Springs was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Academy of Central Florida National Golden Bulls. The Bears have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Golden Bulls, too.

Winter Springs had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-23, 25-13, 26-24.

Winter Springs was led to victory by Jaslene Martinez and Zen Cunningham. Martinez had 29 digs and five assists, while Cunningham had six kills and one block. Those 29 digs gave Martinez a new career-high.

The win got Winter Springs back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Winter Springs will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Trinity Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Academy of Central Florida National, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Seminole at 7:00 p.m.
