Baseball Recap: Clifton's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Clifton came out on top against Eastside on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Mustangs walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Ghosts. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Mustangs as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Trevor Rascher made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Clifton is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-10 otherwise. Rascher was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Andy Gracia was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Justin Cabrera (11), who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Clifton's record now sits at 3-11. As for Eastside, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-5.

Clifton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Ghosts: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
