Basketball Recap: Michael Mosley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Diboll over Pineywoods Community Academy

Diboll lost against Pineywoods Community Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Diboll Lumberjacks lost 56-30 to the Pineywoods Community Academy Timberwolves. The contest marked the Lumberjacks' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Several Lumberjacks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michael Mosley, who posted two points in addition to five boards and three steals. Mosley has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played.

Even though they lost, Diboll smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Pineywoods Community Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaziel Reyes led the charge by going 9 for 13 en route to 23 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Reyes has posted since back in December of 2024. Gunner Carnes was another key player, putting up 13 points and five boards.

Diboll's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Pineywoods Community Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-14 record this season.

Diboll will square off against Central Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Central Heights will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Diboll surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pineywoods Community Academy, they will challenge Woodville at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Pineywoods Community Academy is facing Woodville at the right time seeing as Woodville is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
