Basketball Game Preview: Asotin Panthers vs. Genesis Prep Academy Jaguars

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Asotin Panthers challenge the Genesis Prep Academy Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday... Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Asotin beat Pomeroy 51-39. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Pirates are ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Genesis Prep Academy had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Coeur du Christ Academy 71-46 back in December of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Asotin and bumps their season record up to 11-3. As for Genesis Prep Academy, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.

Asotin was able to grind out a solid win over Genesis Prep Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 52-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Asotin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
