Jackson faced St. Edward in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Polar Bears came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 3-1. While the Polar Bears didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-17, 20-25, 25-17.

Jackson's offense was headlined by Lukas PEMBERTON and Mazio Manello, who picked up 12 kills apiece. They got some help from Austin Earlenbaugh and his 18 assists. Manello was also solid from the service line: he led the team with five aces.

When it comes to explaining why St. Edward lost, don't look at Davion Tan-Nguyen. Despite the final result, he had 16 digs and two assists. Tan-Nguyen is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 16 or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Jackson has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for St. Edward, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-4.

Jackson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Independence on the 12th. As for St. Edward, they have also already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Mentor on the 11th.
