Volleyball Recap: La Porte Finds Playoff Glory Versus South Bend Riley

It's playoff time, and La Porte had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the South Bend Riley Wildcats on Thursday as they made off with a 3-0 win. The Slicers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Leading La Porte to victory were Shayla Sorg and Evelyn Shirk. Sorg had 11 digs and two aces, while Shirk hit 75% for six kills and five digs, three aces, and one block. Shirk is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: La Porte was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in six consecutive matches.

La Porte's win bumped their record up to 17-15. As for South Bend Riley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-29 record this season.

La Porte will take on Mishawaka at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. South Bend Riley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
