Basketball Game Preview: Marion Local Flyers vs. New Bremen Cardinals

Marion Local and New Bremen are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Marion Local Flyers will venture away from home to square off against the New Bremen Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. New Bremen took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Marion Local, who comes in off a win.

Marion Local took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Mississinawa Valley by a score of 56-44.

Meanwhile, New Bremen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 52-27 to Legacy Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 561st, while the Knights are ranked 160th).

Marion Local's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.2 points per game. As for New Bremen, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.

Marion Local came up short against New Bremen in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 45-39. Can Marion Local avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
