Basketball Recap: Tarboro Comes Up Short

Tarboro was the 79-75 winner over Bertie when they last played one another last Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The Tarboro Vikings were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 54-53 to the Bertie Falcons. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Falcons 18-12 in the first quarter.

Zymiere Dempsey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bertie, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 19 boards. That's the most rebounds Dempsey has posted since back in December of 2024. Tayvien Ward was another key player, going 7-for-14 on his way to 15 points along with eight boards and three steals.

Tarboro's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Bertie, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season.

Tarboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bertie, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-37 win against Washington County on the 18th.
