West extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-15-3 in the process. They lost 13-0 to the Piper Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 on Monday.

As for Piper, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Piper's part, Carter Laird and Mason Porter did most of the damage at the plate: Laird went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Porter went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Porter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eli Utter, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, West is taking a road trip to take on Topeka on Wednesday.
