While Branford didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Wilbur Cross Governors on Friday as they made off with an 8-2 victory. Considering the Hornets have won four games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Branford's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Wilbur Cross, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Branford will welcome East Hampton at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Wilbur Cross, they will host Law at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
