Football Recap: Cocke County Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Cocke County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-8. They came up short against the Pigeon Forge Tigers, falling 59-33. Even if the Fighting Cocks couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

When it comes to explaining why Cocke County lost, don't look at Daniel Price. Despite the final result, he picked up 58 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 48 yards and one touchdown. That rushing touchdown marked the first that Price has punched in this season. Another player making a difference was Eli Roberts, who rushed for 54 yards and one TD.

As for Pigeon Forge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-6. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 10.35 yards per carry in those games compared to only 2.97 in the others.

Ayden Hood had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 461 yards and six scores while picking up 17.7 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 110.9 rushing yards per game. Aven Mitchell got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Cocke County has already played their next game, a 44-30 defeat against Morristown-Hamblen West on the 24th. As for Pigeon Forge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 25-18 win against Chuckey-Doak on the 24th.
