Baseball Game Preview: Carlson Marauders vs. Erie-Mason Eagles

The Carlson Marauders will challenge the Erie-Mason Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Carlson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Carlson will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Wayland on Saturday. The Marauders put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 10-2 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Marauders as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Carlson let Noah Borowski and Matthew MacBride run wild. Borowski went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while MacBride got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs Borowski has posted over his last 16 matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Salisbury, who earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.

Carlson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Erie-Mason was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lenawee Christian. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Erie-Mason's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Carlson, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.

Everything went Carlson's way against Erie-Mason when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Carlson made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Marauders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
