Volleyball Recap: Trinity Christian Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Trinity Christian won the last time they faced Notre Dame and Lainey Jackson did her part to make sure it happened again. The Warriors walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Fighting Irish on Wednesday for which the team can thank Jackson, who had 16 digs and three aces. She has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 14 times she's played.

Trinity Christian easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-13.

Several Fighting Irish players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sophie Gum, who had seven digs and five blocks. Angelina Policano was another key player, getting 14 digs and two assists.

Trinity Christian's win ended a three-match drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10. As for Notre Dame, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-11.

Coming up, Trinity Christian will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Clay-Battelle at 6:00 p.m. As for Notre Dame, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Braxton County on the 25th.
