Fellowship Academy hasn't had much luck against Temple Christian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Fellowship Academy Mustangs will take on the Temple Christian Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
While Mustangs fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Saturday's season opener. They were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over Nazarene Christian Academy two weeks ago. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Khylee Webber made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Webber was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Ava Christie and Taitym Rankin did most of the damage at the plate: Christie scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Rankin scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Tamia Tyson was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Fellowship Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nazarene Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .278.
Meanwhile, Temple Christian got the win against Nazarene Christian Academy on Friday by a conclusive 14-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Eagles have posted against the Lions since February 25, 2020.
The team relied heavily on Audri Rangel, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamar Benneji, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Fellowship Academy might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Temple Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Fellowship Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
