Basketball Recap: Columbus Comes Up Short

Columbus lost against Neshoba Central back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Columbus Falcons came up short against the Neshoba Central Rockets, falling 53-28. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Rockets are ranked 27th).

It was another big night for Kyli Truss, who posted 22 points for Neshoba Central. The match was Truss' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shastyn Lewis, who had 11 points.

Columbus has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Neshoba Central, their victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-7.

Columbus will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ridgeland at 6:00 p.m. on December 30th. As for Neshoba Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Meridian at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th.
