Baseball Game Preview: Windham Whippets vs. Wheeler Lions

The Windham Whippets will head out on the road to face off against the Wheeler Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Windham has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 8th.

Windham lost 20-2 to Stonington on Monday.

Meanwhile, Wheeler came up short against New London on Monday and fell 9-5.

James Main was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Dowry, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Wheeler has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Windham, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Windham suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Wheeler in their previous matchup on April 10th. Can the Whippets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
