Pitman is 1-9 against Gregori since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Pitman Pride will be playing at home against the Gregori Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, Pitman didn't have quite enough to beat Downey and fell 12-11. The Pride have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Elyssa Alcazar was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while going 2-for-4. Ke'ala Souza was another key player, scoring a run while going 4-for-4.
Even though they lost, Pitman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .436. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Gregori got themselves on the board against Modesto on Tuesday, but Modesto never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 10-0 win. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Gregori also got a great performance from Allyson Conway as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits Conway has allowed since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, NeVaeh Scheper was a standout: she scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Audrey Pacheco, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Gregori's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Pitman, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pitman has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gregori struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Pitman might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Gregori in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will Pitman have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
