Basketball Recap: Morningside Academy Takes a Loss

Morningside Academy lost against John Carroll Catholic back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Morningside Academy Eagles fell to the John Carroll Catholic Rams 39-33. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Morningside Academy still got an impressive performance from AJ Chang, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds. Chang has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Stephen Moss was another key player, putting up four points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Morningside Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Morningside Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for John Carroll Catholic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Morningside Academy Eagles challenge the Jensen Beach Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. After both having extra time off, John Carroll Catholic and West Shore will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 5:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025. West Shore is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.
