Softball Recap: Coupeville's Loss Ends 17-Game Winning Streak at Home

Coupeville dropped their record down to 17-2 on Friday, which also ended the team's 17-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They came up short against the River View Panthers, falling 13-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Wolves were not able to get on the board.

As for River View, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-1. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 20 matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

For River View's part, Kaydence Mathews made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Mathews has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Reyna Caballero was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lauren Overstreet, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

As of now, neither Coupeville nor River View have any future games scheduled.
