The Design Tech Dragons will face off against the Castilleja Gators at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Design Tech knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Castilleja likes a good challenge.
On Monday, Design Tech got the win against Jefferson by a conclusive 20-8. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by 11 runs or more this season.
Ella Lewis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lewis was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Design Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Castilleja came up short against South San Francisco on Friday, falling 12-1. The loss continues a trend for the Gators in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost four in a row.
Katherine Cheng was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles.
Design Tech is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games. As for Castilleja, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Design Tech hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .491. However, it's not like Castilleja struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
