Softball Recap: Burlingame Wins Going Away Against Mercy

Burlingame never got on the board in their matchup last Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Mercy on Friday. They blew past the Bears 11-5. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Madeline Koo was incredible, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4. Giana Johnson also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Koo wasn't the only one making solid contact: Burlingame kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Burlingame's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Mercy, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burlingame will head out to face off against Valley Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. As for Mercy, they are taking a road trip to take on Harker at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
