Baseball Game Preview: Warwick Warriors vs. Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers

The Warwick Warriors will take on the Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Warwick nor Lampeter-Strasburg posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Monday just wasn't the day for Warwick's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Solanco on Monday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Lampeter-Strasburg had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They never let the Buckskins get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. That's two games straight that the Pioneers have won by just one run.

The result came thanks to Devin Aponte's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chase Messinger, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Warwick's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Lampeter-Strasburg, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Everything went Warwick's way against Lampeter-Strasburg when the teams last played back in April of 2022, as Warwick made off with a 16-6 victory. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pioneers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
