Basketball Recap: Swansboro Finds Playoff Glory Versus South Central

With a playoff win on the line, Swansboro rose to the challenge on Friday. They strolled past the South Central Falcons with points to spare, taking the game 72-56. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Falcons are ranked 132nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jonah Holt was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 25 points and nine boards. His big performance that evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Jermaine Cunningham was another key player, shooting 45% from the field to rack up 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.

The victory was the 11th in a row for Swansboro, bringing their record for this year to 23-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.5 points over those games. As for South Central, they moved to 16-9 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Swansboro will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Southern Lee at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Swansboro's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. South Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
