Basketball Game Preview: Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Wolves vs. Berne-Knox-Westerlo Bulldogs

The Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Wolves and the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Bulldogs will meet in a canine-themed contest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Berne-Knox-Westerlo's (thus far) undefeated season.

Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell 69-58 to Wells on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 550th, while the Wells CSD are ranked 261st).

Meanwhile, Berne-Knox-Westerlo humbled Middleburgh with a 77-49 victory. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 28 points or more this season.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville might still be hurting after the 77-51 loss they got from Berne-Knox-Westerlo in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
