Basketball Recap: Grants Comes Up Short

Grants was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 69-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Farmington Scorpions. The Pirates lost against the Scorpions in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 91-55 score last time.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Farmington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Landon Begay, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 20 points in addition to six assists and three steals. The matchup was Begay's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samuel Goats, who went 8 for 11 on his way to 19 points.

Grants' loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Farmington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.

Grants didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-64 defeat against Tohatchi on the 9th. As for Farmington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 91-46 victory against Shiprock on the 10th.
