Softball Game Preview: Donna Redskins vs. Rivera Raiders

The Donna Redskins will take on the Rivera Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rivera took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Donna, who comes in off a win.

Donna headed into their last match having not scored more than two runs for seven straight, but Donna North let them put that streak behind them. Donna blew past Donna North 22-10 on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Redskins as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Rivera was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Edcouch-Elsa.

Kiley Trevino put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Anahy Gonzalez-Torres was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dezaray Banda, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Donna's win bumped their record up to 3-14-1. As for Rivera, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.

Donna might still be hurting after the 17-5 loss they got from Rivera in their previous matchup back in February. Can Donna avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
