Baseball Recap: Meridian Gets the Win

Meridian's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They skirted past the Merrill Vandals 5-4. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 7-4 victory the Vandals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Carson Snyder looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meridian is 3-1 when Snyder allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Garrett Bergman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Brady Bowen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The win got Meridian back to even at 4-4. As for Merrill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meridian will host Standish-Sterling at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Merrill, they will welcome Vestaburg at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
